The Australian Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Dolls are a world-first collaboration with Miniland in Spain, to create an Aboriginal Doll specifically for the Australian market, with 3.5% of proceeds from sales being donated to Aboriginal community-led organisation Children’s Ground.
Available in a boy and girl, these dolls were developed here in Australia in consultation with several indigenous Australians including the renowned artist Garry Purchase.
Like all Miniland Dolls, they can be articulated and are anatomically correct dolls, allowing children to make an important difference between them, thus strengthening knowledge of anatomy and differential features.
Made in Spain, these anatomically correct dolls are vanilla scented to smell like a newly born baby. The dolls have well-defined ethnic features to aid the identification of the most representative ethnicities. The dolls are articulated.
The fact that the dolls are anatomically correct and ethnically diverse allows children to understand the important differences between us all. They do not contain batteries or make any sound, so the dolls do what the child want them to.
This differentiates them from other dolls that subject the child to a specific play pattern. The variation in available models means that there is always a particular model for a specific need.
The clothing collections (sold separately) foster manipulative skills and help children become familiar with different types of zippers and buttons. Doll accessories feature a wide range of details and are of the highest quality.
Made in Phytalates-free vinyl, they are soft and flexible to the touch. The dolls can not be bathed.
